Product Description
Orange oil is an essential oil extracted from Orange fruit (Citrus sinensis).

It is a by-product of orange juice processing and it is extracted from orange peels. Orange oil is one of the most abundant sources of the profoundly therapeutic d-limonene [1]. Limonene is a monoterpene, widely used as a flavor and fragrance. Orange oil has been attractive as a research area lately because of its natural origin and it has low toxicity to humans. It is widely used in perfume, cosmetics, food, and confectionery industries for its intense fragrance and freshness. *

Research suggests orange oil may offer support healthy pain management, digestive health, skin health, cell-calming health, mood and nervous system health. *
Product Benefits
  • Pain is an emotional and unpleasant experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. Four drops of orange oil were poured on a pad and were pinned with a plastic pin to sixty patients' collars, about 20 cm distant from the head. The patients' pain and vital signs were checked every 1 hour for at laest 6 hours. Aromatherapy with the essential oil of orange as a complementary medicine could support a healthy pain response in patients with fractured limbs before surgery. It can lead to faster recovery and discharge of patients as well as reduce the costs of hospitalization [3]. *
  • Orange oil exerted an excellent microbial action of food-borne bacteria. Orange oil totally inhibits the growth of Salmonella senftenberg, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus, Aerobacter aerogenes, and Alcaligenes faecalis. Orange oil is bacteriostatic for all Enterobacteriaceae family. *
  • The concept of topical application of drugs on topical breast application is novel and may provide the potential for localized drug delivery with minimal systemic side effects. Miller et al., 2012 evaluated the topical application of limonene to breast health challenged patients as an alternative dosing strategy. The massage oil was freshly prepared by blending 3 drops of organic orange oil (containing 0.14 g of limonene) with 1.35 mL base oil to give a final orange oil concentration of 10%. Forty-four eligible women initiated the massage intervention and the formulation given to women for topical application to the breast was met with high compliance and tolerance. *
  • Limonene, a major component in citrus oil, has demonstrated healthy cell-replication promoting effects in pre-clinical mammary challenged models. Topically applied limonene can penetrate through human epidermis and dermis. Additionally, this study demonstrates that women are willing to apply a topical agent to their breasts daily, providing a potential alternative for women unwilling or unable to take a daily oral drug [5]. *
  • Another study has shown that edible oil of orange can support healthy breast pain management caused by premenstrual syndrome [10]. *
  • It has been shown that inhalation of the essential oil of orange can support labor pain [6]. *
  • It also can stimulate the central nervous system, enhance the mood, cause sedation and relief. It is an antispasmodic, a cell-calming, an anti-bloating, a food digestive, and a diuretic, and it can support healthy blood pressure [7, 8]. *
  • Massage and aromatherapy with a combination of ginger and orange oils were helpful in relieving knee pain during the first week among patients with osteoarthritis [9].
  • There are studies available that inhalation of orange oil decreased the stress rate of heart, pulse rate, abnormal respiration and it has shown positive effects on blood pressure and body temperature [3]. *
Nutritional Profile
Limonene (exist more than 90%), l-Pinene, Sabinene, l-Pinene, Myrcene, Octanal, Linalool, l-3-Carene, and Decanal. Citric acid, ketones, alcohols, long chain aliphatic hydrocarbon alcohols and aldehydes like 1-octanol and octanal are some important group of substances. Most of the compounds in orange oil are the terpenes and terpenoids group.
